A neutron is a part of an atom that is in the nucleus, the other one in the nucleus being a proton. Neutrons have a neutral charge. The number of neutrons, protons, and electrons will vary between elements, and all together these particles make up the mass of an atom. Hydrogen is the only element whose atoms don't have any neutrons. Protons have a positive charge and can be found in the nucleus of an atom. Electrons have a negative charge and can be found outside of the nucleus of the atom.
