Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a basic material of all living things and gives each cell its coding, or genetic instructions. It's the genetic basis of all living things. Genetics deal with the genes which are the instructions that tell each cell what it is, it's looks and behaviors in the environment. The shape of the DNA molecule is a double helix which means that it is double stranded (see pictures).
